Stampin UP Holiday Catalog Christmas Cards

Stamparama 2017 Christmas

I created these cards at a Southwestern Ontario Event called Stamparama! This event is hosted by my upline Jenn and Sofi.

I have only missed a few since it started. This year, we created 6 cards and a mini pizza box with cards. Check out the video to see the featured cards.

I have listed below the stamp sets used in the cards.

Check out my online store if you are interested in purchasing any of these sets before the end of the year. The Year End event features  retiring sets and products that will expire when the Holiday Catalog ends on January 2. Some of the items are offered as a discount while quantities last.

Sundays in the Sewing Room Christmas Countdown…4 more weeks

Let’s Get Organized!!
Well this week . I spent a good amount of time preparing for my Christmas Card Clinic, Sunday was spent tidying up and putting away.
Stay tuned for a video showcasing this years’ cards. This is a project I was working on in the summer….
Here is a small project idea that holds a tablet, notebook and a few other office on the go goodies.
Unfortunately, I can not locate the link for this tutorial.
I will do an update on the post, when I do.
This idea is a quick and easy project, I used stuff from my stash and decided on the black and white because I can gift to male or female.

Sundays in the Sewing Room – Christmas Countdown 4 more to go

Well it’s crunch time for me!!!

All these ideas are swimming in my head and I am running out of time fast! Yesterday I was at a craft show, showcasing my paper crafting. So, that left me with little sewing time this week. Today I am sharing my in progress project! We moved within this year to a new home and I decided I wanted a new look for the holidays. So, here is what started the decorating theme:

In October I was at a quilt retreat and they featured this tree skirt as a class within the retreat. I saw these fabrics in the shop and fell in love with the grey, red and white combo.  The birch trees and buffalo check scream Canada, cabin and winter to me!

And to go along with the theme…here is my floral piece for the front entrance:

Sundays in the Sewing Room- Christmas Countdown 5 weeks to go… Evening INspiration

I created these from a free pattern by Moda, titled “Little Break”.  The pattern featured Zen Chic fabric line designed by Brigitte Heitland.

This was a cute bundle I picked up at a shop hop, they were all sold out of her microchips to create this quick and easy project.  The intention was to do a sewing project with DD but well, now it will be a gift for her. They are bigger than most mug rugs I have made in the past. Smaller than a placemat. Measures in at : 8.5″ x 10.5″.

This can be completed on one night with simple quilting. I hand sew my bindings, it took me about an hour to sew this binding.

Stampin Up’s Eastern Beauty Medallion

I created this card to showcase the 2017-2018 in colours. It was inspired by another card design done in Very Vanilla. I thought that the new in-colours would pop with the black background. Click on the video for instructions on how to put this card together.

I made one in each of the NEW 2017- 2019 in colours:

Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Powder Pink

Sundays in the Sewing Room- Countdown

Today I am taking a small diversion to this week’s upcoming holiday: Hallowe’en

I created these placemats from a panel, with intentions for my children to have them for the week leading up to Hallowe’en. Hmm, never thought until now, that it would have been nice to add a few more to have a c0mplete set. LOL!

This small wall-hanging was created at a previous retreat and I finished it up with raw edge applique. I added the pumpkin faces and ghost eyes using a fabric marker. While I had good intentions of embroidering them on, I wanted to get’er done!!!

An original “Mom” design:)

Stampin’ UP Colorful Seasons- Just Breathe

Just Breathe

When I saw this stamp set, it was instantly added to my top 5 sets to get!

The versatility within the stamp set is amazing! It’s an all season stamp set for sure! As the cottage season is winding down and many of us are packing up from a season of sandy beaches and icy cold drinks, I thought I would create this card. Fall has always been a busy season for me, so this card is placed prominently on my desk to remind me to “Just Breathe”!

Watch the video to see how I created the card:

I used the Tempting Turquoise ink and watercoloured the background.

As that was drying I put together the other elements of the card. I used white embossing powder for the sentiment, crushed curry for the Adirondack chair, and the seaside embossing folder for the waves on the card base. After I assembled the card I added some glitter with Wink of Stella glitter pen!

Christmas Countdown – The Little Lacie Bag

For my Mom
To match my sewing room

Sweet Retreat was AMAZING

This post is a bit late as I was flying across the country to return from Sweet Retreat and a bit of tech issues… sigh.

We arrived on Thursday and enjoyed four days of non-stop quilting, laughing and eating. Sleep was optional! At dinner time, we had table favours made from the host and staff of The Fabric Shop (Gander, NL). I was able to test drive the PFAFF Power Quilter 16.0, and walked away with a hot mat. I learned how to paper piece and had a kit to make a coaster. There were a variety of classes offered, instructions were included in the retreat price but kits or materials were extra. Thes wag bag was full of patterns, notions and of course fabric.  I came away mesmerized by the talent of the women in the room.

This cute bag was a hit at retreat. I was making them for my family members and many of the ladies wanted to see how the bag was done. They were most intrigued by the lacie zipper that is sewn on the outside of the bag. I have sewn a total of 7 bags, so far. My official retreat name is : The Bag Lady

We played a game and guess what I won? Yep, a bag!!!

For my sister , and I switched the fabric placement for my aunt

This project is perfect as a makeup bag, toiletries bag, sewing notions bag. What would you use it for?

Sewing time is about 1.5 hours, total time to complete project ( without interruptions), 2 hours. This is approximate. I cut all my pattern pieces first and then created the zipper unit ( which is what took the most time), for 3 bags at the same time. I think this would be great as a stocking-stuffer on it’s own; or fill it up with treats as a gift.

Check in with me next week for another Christmas Countdown Project idea.

Be sure to request this pattern at your local quilt shop.  Click on images to go directly to Border Creek Station.

The zippers are available in 24 colours:

Stampin Up’s newest line of coffee- Merry Cafe

Look I made a fresh cup of coffee, just in time..only 12 weeks until Christmas! It seems to sneak up on me every year. I created this card for a demonstrator card swap in September. I love this card swap because I always come home with a variety of cards featuring stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog that I may not have on my wish list. This allows me to share card ideas with my customers.

For this card I used the Merry Cafe stamp set(144965) in the Holiday Catalog (p. 46).

Check out the video to see how to create your own Cup of Cheer!

Subscribe to my YouTube channel and let me know in the comment box, what holiday coffee card you would like to see next.

Sundays in the Sewing Room- Sweet Retreat “What’s In My Bag?”

Today’s post is short and sweet. I am packing up for Quilt Retreat. This is an annual event in Gander, Newfoundland, hosted by The Fabric Shop. It’s also a mini family reunion for a few of the girls in our family who attend. My Mom is the shop owner and this year’s retreat projects are so amazing, so I hope to bring home lots of ideas for future posts.

What’s In My Bag:

Here are a few photos of what I plan on taking to visit my Mom and for retreat weekend.

A few kits and fat quarters:

A few bag patterns

And of course my travel sewing kit. I made this at retreat a few years back and it has served me well. It holds all my essentials.

I have a love for coffee (and tea)! When I saw this set it immediately went to My TOP 5 favourite sets in the new catalog…and there is a companion set in the Holiday catalog, more on that next week.

Sunday in the Sewing Room- Charity Quilt

I love to sew! Early on I would sew, mostly my own clothes. I even made my own wedding dress!! Then I discovered quilting..wow, what an eye opener to  me! This encompasses all the things as a child I was drawn to: fractions, shapes, geometry, colour theory, sorting, puzzles, cut and paste, and paper. It’s amazing how I have gone through my creative journey only to discover that the things I loved most in childhood are the things that I revert back to as an adult.

Take a moment and think of your childhood games and activities, what were some of your favourites? (Leave a comment below and share). Our senses play a big part in our creativity. In quilting the feel of the fabric, the colour combinations and the shapes/patterns need to speak to me.

I decided to join a local chapter. I had been cautioned that it was a large group…and it was! I was amazed at the talent and the sharing of that talent within the group. Many quilt guilds give back to the community and this group was no different. The quilts go to 15 different organizations including neonatal blankets.

At my first meeting I came upon a table filled with quilt kit (and I LOVE kits!). I soon found out these kits were to make charity quilts.

I was excited! This kit jumped off the table into my hands..did the polka dots have anything to do with it? Or was it the combination of pink, black and white? I eagerly signed up. One year later here is the finished project ( I never said I was fast!).

I love that the pattern was simple to piece together and  ALL the elements for the completion of the quilt were included (great for taking to retreats). The best part is that somewhere, someone will be cuddled under the warmth and love of a handmade quilt. We may never meet, but I am glad that I made the time to create a hug for someone who may need it more than me.
