Nature’s Poem Suite

Rooted In Nature Bundle is a great compliment to your stamping stash. Here is the video showcasing the bundle and coordinating products:

Firstly it is a great compliment to our classic Lovely As A Tree stamp set. Secondly, it will make great masculine cards and thirdly a great landscape backdrop to other stamp sets in the catalog.

Graceful Glass Suite

I love visiting old churches and looking at the stained glass art and ornate doors. I often find when I am traveling many of my photos are of doors and windows.  One of my favourite memories is Old Montreal, the cobblestone roads, ornate door hardware, carved wood and stained glass, takes you back in time. In this suite, the font is reminiscent of Renaissance times. Check out today’s video for some inspiration:

I will miss you…

Today is a bittersweet day for me. The last day to order from the 2017-2018 catalog. It feels a little bit like I need to make some new years resolutions. I will only buy one thing from the new catalog. Nope, can’t do it.

As a demonstrator we get the chance to pre-order from a selected few items from the upcoming catalog…being released Friday June 1! What a great way to start the weekend. Sit back grab a cup of tea and do a bit of online shopping, wish list making and a bit of dreaming. I will post the link to the online catalog on Friday.

For now, I hope to inspire you with these two cards that feature some retiring products:

Pop of Inspiration was created using the Pop of Paradise stamp set and two ink colours Emerald Envy (retiring) and Lemon Lime Twist (in color 2017-2019). The inspirational quote is from Just Add Text stamp set and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. If you look really close you may see the glitter & clear epoxy shapes. I thought it would give the illusion of dew drops on the leaves.

This card went together quickly. I cut the Emerald Envy card base 8 -1/2″ x 5-1/2 and the Whisper White mat at 4″ x 5-1/4″. I stamped and stamped off the leaves using the two leaf stamps in the set and the two ink colors around the perimeter of the card front. Then I inked up the greeting with the Tuxedo Black, added the bling and it’s done. Super sweet and super cute!

Thoughtful Inspiration  was created with the Touches of Texture stamp set and Always Artichoke (retiring) and Rose Red (retiring).

For this design I stamped the lace on either side of the Very Vanilla card front and the flowers using the Tuxedo Black ink. I painted the flowers with Rose Red and the leaves with Always Artichoke, using my aqua painter. I finished off the card with the greeting in the centre and mounted in on top of an Always Artichoke card base cut at 11-1/2″ x 4-1/4″. I added Glitter Enamel dots for the bling! Sweet and Simple.

I hope these cards inspire you to create one of your own.

#flashbackthursday Falling for Paper Pumpkin

Here are the alternate cards you will see in my posted video.

Back in September I received this kit and was so impressed with the stamps, the greetings and the foiled leaves! I loved that they had cards and little treat boxes. I was travelling to visit my Mom ( in Newfoundland), and had about a 3 hour wait in the Toronto Airport! What better way to wait for my plane than to play with my newest PP kit! I even had someone watching me create the mini cards. I gave her one and she was so excited, she took it over to her friends to tell them!

Before I left I decided that I would record my alternate project video, then while away I could work on the editing and posting. I uploaded the content to my computer only to find out that I had pressed record when I was setting up the supplies to create the card, then hit record again when I was making the card. Yep, you guessed it, my video consisted of me prepping for the video! AGHH!  I was in Newfoundland, without any extra materials, so I was unable to post the video.

After I got home I had all these other wonderful card/video ideas, and pushed this one to the side. Well, the nagging feeling of having this video got the better of me and I re-recorded what I could, edited it and here it is to share with you! Enjoy, I would love to hear if you have made alternate cards with this kit.

If  you would like to create the alternate cards, here is a list of supplies:

Impossible Card and String Art Gone Viral!!!!

Wow!! This card technique has gone viral along with the string art technique!

Well you know what they say about curiosity and the cat? I think today I am a cat.

I tried out the Impossible Card, not as impossible as I thought. The first time I saw it was on Maymay Made it and she redirected it to Trimcraft and Mixed Up Crafts

Here is my version of this card using up some of our retiring items:

I decided that with Father’s Day coming up that I could use up some of my True Gentleman Suite items. Once I had the template down, it went together fairly quickly, the trickiest part is cutting the “L” shaped DSP and deciding on the greeting! I hope you will give it a try. Leave me a comment below if you would like me to feature this technique in one of my future video.

String Art Technique

As an early childhood educator, we were taught that it is the process not the product. I have introduced string art to my young students for a number of years ( if I tell you how many years, you might guess how old I am. LOL).

I saw this technique first introduced to me on Facebook  in one of those suggested posts. Imagine that! Facebook suggesting something crafty in my feed. Well I watched the video and was instantly taken, we have been playing with string for years! I never thought to use it in my card making. So, off I trotted down to my craft studio, to see what I could do to recreate this technique. Here is the end result:

This card was created using Brusho. Yellow, Gamboge and Brilliant Red. I used Flirty Flamingo to mat the flowers and the greeting is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.

This card was created using Classic Stampin’ Ink. So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral. I used Calypso Coral to mat the flowers and the greeting is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.

Be sure to leave me a comment to share which technique is your favourite!

Bokeh: ( pronunced BOH- kay or BOH-ke as defined by Merrim-Webster Dictionary ” the blurred quality or effect seen in the out-of-focus portion of a photograph taken with a narrow depth of field”. The origin of the word is Japanese. boke; meaning blur or haziness.

I created this video to share the technique and my twist on the idea. Enjoy

Paper Pumpkin March 2018 Alternate Projects

As I am writing this blog we are having some crazy weather here today!! Winds gusting at 100km/h and snow!!!

Wow!!! What better reason to create some cards.

Today I am featuring the very vintage March subscription box. The kit creates 8 cards, and so far I have created 12 by alternating a few of the items. I still have a few bits left, so we will see where that leads me. Be sure to check out the video below to get inspired to create:

I love that the envelopes are the perfect size for adding a flower seed packet. I think this would be a great Mother’s Day to gift to my friends. Especially the ones that I know love gardening.

Card #1 was created by sponging over the flowers with Flirty Flamingo, Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz inks and a sponge dauber. I also coloured the wood flower element.

Card #2 was created by trimming down the front portion of the envelope. Here I used a Powder Pink card stock base, cut the included pink mat on a diagonal and added the luscious ribbon. (Afterthought, the brads could be used to adhere the ribbon too!)

Card #3 is a variation on the original envelope. I cut apart the coloured flowers so that I could bump them up, added some sponged Early Espresso ink to the edges.

Card #4  A tech glitch caused me to loose the first part of this clip.  To create the flap, I used the leftover envelope piece from card #2 to add a strip to the back. This gave me something to anchor the flap. I used the floral stamp ( afterthought the leaves stamp would work too!) to create an allover stamped image. I adhered the strips and floral sprays included in the kit and sponged the wood element. What I love about this card is when the flap is closed or opened the card is beautiful!

Thanks so much for sticking around to the end. If you are interested in the Paper Pumpkin deal (50%), please click the link below. When I see you join as a subscriber with me, I will send a thank you card and you will automatically be part of my Paper Pumpkin club.

Stampin’ Blends You’re Inspiring Daffodils

Thanks so much for stopping by. Today’s post is all about March’s flower, the daffodil. I bought this stamp set early in the year, and decided I needed a little spring in my life, and created this card for a swap. I found the idea while surfing the internet, and am unable to give credit to the designer. 🙁

I wanted to share the idea with my stamp club and create a video showcasing Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I found the colouring very relaxing. There has been a ton of studies done on the benefits of colouring. To create this card, watch my video. Below the video are links to my online shop to purchase all the supplies.

When making an online order, be sure to check out my rewards program and host code for the month. Happy Crafting!

Stampin’ Up Brusho Birthday Blooms

Birthday Blooms Stamp Set

 Flower Shop Stamp Set

Back again, with another beautiful Brusho background. I created this card, first using the easy brusho technique. Once it was dry I added the versamark and embossing powder. The greeting pairs nicely with the classic label punch and the white perfect accents give it a nice finish. I was inspired to create two cards from this design by changing up the flower. I love how the gamboge is softened when the yellow is added, it pairs well with the Peekaboo Peach cardstock.
